Fun Facts About Feeding The Alligators

• The Allapattah Swamp Alligator Feeding Experience is open daily from 9:30 am - 4 pm
• You can feed at your own pace without having to book a time.
• You can buy your feed upon entry in the Admission area or in the gift shop.
• There are no age restrictions for the alligator feeding experience, but we prefer if all little ones keep their feet on the ground.

Alligator Conservation

At ZooWorld, we can hatch over 500 alligator eggs a year. There are 80 alligators, half male & half female, that range from 12 to over 13 feet in size. Alligators are no longer considered endangered, but there was a time when they nearly became extinct. Alligators were often hunted for their skins which could be sold to make leather and their meat in the 1800s through mid-1900s.The Allapattah Swamp Alligator Feeding Experience won the Animal Exhibit Award of Excellence by the Zoological Association of America. This prize recognizes excellence in creating new and interesting animal exhibits.
